In the beginning of class we met in the labs to review other people's websites. Julia went over mine and just said we should do a little more organizing and finish it up. After being in the lab for around 20 minutes, we headed back to class, and barely got a chance to sit down before we had to go through a fire drill. Even though we were rudely interrupted by the drill, we organized into groups in the 4 corners of the room to go over how we should remember the bomb. My corner was Japan as victimization and we discussed what evidence could back it up. Once we returned back to our seats, the opposing side read off their 5 main points as to why Japan should be remembered as a triumph. Their 5 points were:
1) It helped us deal with the Russians
2) It saved a ton of American and Japanese lives
3) It saved Japan govt. and their emperor system
4) The Japanese ignored our compromises and warnings
5) It was revenge for the death camps and baton march
After this, we had to agree on a consensus based on a picture. We chose a picture of the mushroom cloud of the Hiroshima bomb because the bomb symbolized both sides; it symbolized the power the bomb held and showed to what extent the affects of the bomb would be.
